Senior Project Manager (Engineering)


Department: Engineering

Pay: $130k-$155k

Job Type: Full-time

Work Location: Remote, Hybrid, or In-Office (Barrie, ON L4N 0W5)

Hours of work:

  • Typical full-time work week, with occasional evening and weekend meetings as required on a project-by-project basis.

Education & Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • Registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario as a Professional Engineer and is a member in good standing.

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in municipal, land development, civil engineering or related discipline.

General Duties:

  • Responsible for encouraging and promoting new business opportunities. To be undertaken at discretion of the Manager of Engineering and in a manner to be most beneficial to the Company – i.e. developing proposals and making presentations, developing contacts in the industry, participating in quasi-professional organizations/associations, entertaining clients and colleagues.
  • Aid in setting the overall direction of the Engineering department required for the efficient operation of engineering services.
  • Assist the Partners with such Department administrative duties as may be assigned.
  • Respond to or assist other departments, as required, in responding to inquiries pertaining to the engineering functions of the Department.
  • Undertake engineering design functions and complete technical assignments as may be required to finalize and complete Company/Department approved projects. Follow the progress and ensure the quality of completed Engineering projects. This will include ensuring the following is carried out efficiently and effectively:
  • Effective communication with clients, municipalities and provincial ministries and agencies.
  • Monitoring provincial services related to engineering.
  • Coordinating all project components.
  • Attendance at Council Meetings and Committee Meetings.
  • Presentations and public open house meetings
  • Undertake and/or monitor staff design work.
  • Administer road services, subdivision and site plan and plot plan designs.
  • Undertake as required field inspections, site visits and reviews.
  • Master Servicing and Functional Servicing Plans.
  • Sanitary sewer, water distribution and storm drainage designs.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the writing of engineering and technical reports required for setting project direction, approvals and/or information purposes.
  • Write and/or supervise the writing of tenders and tender documents/specifications, necessary for the construction of engineering works.
  • Monitor projects and studies to ensure conformity with approved budgets and project schedules.
  • Provide information to government approval agencies as may be requested or required, including material or data as required by Government Ministries, i.e. Ministry of Environment, Work Permits as issued by Conservation Authorities etc.
  • Arrange for and secure such government and other agency approvals as may be required by law, prior to undertaking/constructing approved company projects.
  • As a representative of the Jones Consulting group Ltd., conduct yourself in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with all staff, the public, agency staff, contractors and clients.
  • Understand and adhere to the corporate policies and procedures.
